MAINTAINING AND CLEANING A LEATHER WATCH STRAP
On a daily basis, thanks to the high quality of Camille Fournet leathers, very little effort is required for the care of your leather watch strap.
The exotic leathers used in the making of Camille Fournet straps comply with the International Convention on Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES Convention).
Leather, like all natural materials, evolves with the seasons, depending on its type, colour and how it is worn. It naturally develops a patina over time and reacts to humidity. To fully enjoy your leather watch strap, be sure to care for it properly: store it each evening in a dry, cool place, away from humidity, light, and any source of heat.
It is essential to avoid any contact with water, which can damage the material, cause stains, and permanently alter the leather. If the strap becomes wet, the color of the leather may transfer onto light-coloured clothing. Likewise, avoid contact with alcohol-based substances (perfume, solvents), greasy products (lotions, cosmetics), or abrasive materials.
If your leather watch strap does come into contact with water or any of these substances, we recommend you to contact our customer service or, if possible, to present it at a Camille Fournet boutique. A professional will advise you and determine whether your strap should be returned to our workshop for more detailed maintenance.
Specificities of Glossy Alligator Straps
If your strap is made of glossy alligator leather, please note that this leather is not varnished. Its shine is therefore not permanent and will develop a natural patina over time, giving each strap its unique character. It is perfectly normal for the gloss to gradually fade. To preserve its appearance, avoid rubbing the strap, even with a soft cloth, and limit exposure to water, perfume or creams, as these can cause stains and permanently damage the leather.
Specificities of Agate-Stone Polished Alligator Straps
This type of leather tends to become matte over time. Contact with water or any alcohol-based or greasy substances can accelerate this process, leaving matte areas where the leather has been exposed.
